Using latest version of Events Manager and have deleted a recurring event and as well as deleting all occurrences of the event in the ‘events’ section so that when searching in any event category from the admin panel it’s not there. However when I checked the website https://www.born2tri.com it’s still there but when clicked on it comes back as page not found. I have recreated the event as we need it to be bookable but the previous version is still there so there’s two versions of the same event but only one of which works. I’ve never had this before and can’t understand how it still can be displayed on the website when it doesn’t exist anywhere in events manager. I have even deleted the entire ‘trash’ as well but to no avail. Really scratching my head now so any help or guidance would be very welcome.

maybe you can try to manually delete it using phpmyadmin or wp adminer plugin and then test and see if this will happen again.

Thanks for your quick reply, to be honest I’m not sure where I’m looking to be able to delete it. I have wp adminer plugin installed but I really don’t know where to look for the events? Can you please point me in the direction of where I am supposed to be looking and I can take it from there? Presumably it will be in one of the PHP documents and if so I know what I’m doing when I get it open but I don’t know where to look.

    Thanks again

Can you post a link to a page that includes links to an event that should be deleted?

Are you using any kind of cache plugin?

    Thread Starter born2tri

    (@born2tri)

Thanks again for your help the link the event on the website is here: https://www.born2tri.com/wordpress/?event=friday-evening-coached-swim-technique-session-2016-01-29

which is on https://www.born2tri.com and this event is called Friday Evening Coached Swim Technique Session. This is currently one of two events on the 29th January one of which works and the other (the top one) doesn’t. Checking the ‘all events’ calendar the ‘ghost’ event appears every Friday as well as the right event.

I have checked and we don’t have any cache plugins installed. Many thanks, Jonathan

Which version of Events Manager and WordPress are you using?

Hi, we are using Events Manager version 5.6.2 and WordPress version 4.4.1.

Hope this is of use, thanks, Jonathan

can you try to create a new wp page and then assign it under Events > Settings > Pages > Other Pages > Front-end management pages > Edit events page and then try to delete the ghost event in the frontend?

    Thread Starter born2tri

    (@born2tri)

Thanks, I have created the new page and assigned it as you have suggested but I’m not sure what you mean by try to delete the ghost event in the front end? The event doesn’t exist in the Events plugin so I’m not sure what front end you mean? Sorry to be really dense but I’m not sure how I would do that. I have done all the steps right up to the delete from the front end and it’s not made any difference so you could provide some more guidance please? Thanks for your patience.

When you view the page created with the steps above, do you see the event listed? If so, are you able to delete it from that page?

Hi, no I don’t the see the event I’m afraid, the page is completely blank. Thanks, Jonathan

Sorry, had a senior moment, I understand what you mean now, no the event isn’t displayed, if you look at this page (sorry I’m still very much learning how to do work with the plugin) https://www.born2tri.com/wordpress/?page_id=20856&view=future only two of the events are shown. Any ideas please? Thanks for your help.

I can’t view that page because it requires a login. The other link from earlier in the thread is no longer working either.

Just to clarify: Have you deleted the event from Events > Recurring Events or only from Events > Events?

    (@born2tri)

Apologies, it just shows ‘Saturday Morning Bike Ride’ and ‘Monday Night Swim’ none of the other 4 events show up there and not even the ghost version. The list of events can be seen on https://www.born2tri.com. The other link I sent before I think is not visible because the time set for booking closures I had set before it was deleted had passed but this one should still work. https://www.born2tri.com/wordpress/?event=friday-evening-coached-swim-technique-session-2016-02-05

I have checked and the ghost event has been deleted from both recurring events and events.

    Thanks, Jonathan

Do you have the same problem if you test with the default WordPress theme?

If you go to Events > Events do you see a link near the top that says Trash? If you do, when you click it do you see the deleted events?

I’m wondering if there’s a fault in your theme meaning it displays events that are in the Trash can.

Thanks, I’ve tried the Twenty Fifteen theme and the ghost event is still there, the trash folder is also empty.

As the site is getting on a bit now I think what I will do, rather than take up more of your time, is put up with it for now and create a new site with a fresh install of Events Manager (we are going to go Pro with this one) and clean install of WordPress. Really appreciate the time and effort you have put in to trying to resolve this. Many thanks, Jonathan
