Ghost entries after moving files

I uploaded a bunch of files using the usual Media library interface. Then I used the plugins controls to move a few to another directory; the move worked fine but there are now ghost images in the source directory. What I mean is there entries in the media library with broken image icons on them, leftover from the move.
