This plugin will block emails as expected and display the validation message.

However, used in conjunction with Gravity Forms Hubspot plugin, the validation message is displayed but the Hubspot feed is still fired. This leads to the form data being submitted to Hubspot despite the validation of email domain failing.

I had reached out to Gravity Forms and they had suggested this is an issue with the Gravity Forms Block Email Domains plugin.

    Please advise,
    Thanks!

    Hi Rob,

Are you using the official Gravity Forms Hubspot add-on?

I’ve just tested this on our website with our Hubspot account and cannot replicate what you’re seeing – if we have a required email field that is blocking gmail.com domains, for example, the form errors out and does not submit or create an entry and the Hubspot feed does not run.

Is it possible that your email field is not required? If your email field is optional, it can fail the domain validation and the form will still submit. (This is the same for any optional field that requires certain formatting, etc.)

    Hi Amber

Yes, we were using the official plugin and its latest version. The email field was also marked as required.

We saw the validation error on form submit as expected but the submission made it into hubspot still. The record did not get created in gravity forms’ entries log, oddly enough.

I’m not sure what else to do. We disabled the plug-in and decided to use conditional logic instead. Let me know if there’s anything I can provide in the meantime.

    Sorry for the delayed response.

It sounds like you’re not using our plugin anymore, but this is what we would likely need to troubleshoot it:

    • export of the form
    • export of the Gravity Forms system status report
    • screenshot of the feed settings page for HubSpot
    • screencast or something that shows us the behavior (I.e., error + entry being added into hubspot)

Alternately (and easier/better), I would probably need access to your wp site or a staging copy of the site so that I could see what all you have installed and what could be conflicting.

Is the form erroring and the feed is still going? Or is the form actually submitting despite the validation error? If it’s the former, that the form has a validation error and is not submitting, but the feed is still firing to HubSpot, it’s likely a problem with the trigger on the HubSpot feed.
