• Example: If john doe had a URL for his WP blog that was johndoe.com…how would he get it to show up first on a Google search for john doe. Presuming john doe was a unique name.

My WP blog has the URL of myname.com

My name is unique unlike john doe, yet when I Google my name the site is buried on the 4th or 5th page of Google. Its been 48 hours since launch of the blog.

I am pretty green at this so can anyone help

Also the title of the blog is my name plus what I do….sort of like John Doe artist………….should I get rid of the extra word and just have my name in the blog title?

    Thanks very much for response.

  • He/She would not use a very used term such as john doe, he/she would use terms that when searched on Google had few results. like jonathonisthedoe, and a unique and varied also domain name ??

No No that was just an example. Replace john doe with my name which is not a very used term and is unique

I thought I made that clear in my post. Presuming john doe or my real name is a unique term not used much.

Have you set up your google analytics, google webmaster and bing webmaster (including submitting a site map)?

Also, google “SEO” to find help. There are many things to do after you create a website.

What is your unique set of terms?

example: lets say my name was Elizabeth Shovelsnow. I just made that name up.

so my WP url would be elizabshovelsnow.com and my blog title would be Elizabeth Shovelsnow Artist.

In my case when I Google Elizabeth Shovelsnow The WP Blog doesn’t show up until the 5th page of Google.

Do you understand what I’m saying?

No I have yet to use Google analytics because I don’t know how yet. Is it difficult to do?

I appreciate the responses I have found a Google SEO Tutorial and will read it and try to understand it.

I have verified my domain in Google webmaster tools, but I find submitting a sitemap to be enormously confusing to me as I’m not an IT person. I also just don’t get meta tags and how to make them and where to put them.

As of this morning when Googling my name the WP Blog came up 1st on the 1st page of Google and sometimes did not come up at all on the first 5 pages of Google. So I think it must be starting to index (3rd day from launch of site)

Are site map submissions to Google webmaster tools crucial? How does a normal person without IT experience do this, or should I hire someone?
