Getting to my first page and not "Index of/"

    How do I get my site to go to the site itself and not “index of/” when I type in the website address in the address bar?

    I know absolutely nothing about IT or web design but so far I have taught myself quite a lot. Just can’t find the answer to what must be a pretty simple question.

    Is your site local or hosted? If it’s local it could be that you do not have PHP installed.

    What’s the difference between local and hosted? And how do I do this bloody PHP I keep reading…? Sorry but I’m an English teacher… ??

    Local: you are running your own server
    Hosted: You have space on a server run by someone else.
