In my perfect world – I have a widget that is posting daily quotes. These quotes will go to FB/TWITTER via my blog.

I am not able to get this to work correctly – and was wondering if you could help – –

I am using a genesis theme created by appendity –

    My website is https://www.theSDRshow.com

I downloaded the enhanced text widget to use the code for the widget… I’ve selected BLOG for it to show up as well… and I am not able to even see the widget.

    Please advise.

If you are trying to get this plugin to post to FB or Twitter that is a function that isn’t available. This plugin displays quotes on your WordPress site only. So at this point there is nothing I can do to assist with that functionality.

As for posting on your WordPress site that is different. You may place the shortcode anywhere on your site. However as the instructions mention shortcodes don’t fire in widgets by default. Did you use the code in the “Help Guide” area to enable shortcode processing in widgets? Your functions.php file must contain the added filter code.

I think this sadly may be beyond my knowledge. ??

I was hoping I could use the enhanced text widget that does allow shortcode.. to work with this.

I am 1-week old to wordpress – and have zero programming knowledge.

But I do thank you for responding so quickly. ??

If you know someone that might be able to help out – that’d be fantastic.

    Welcome to WordPress!

The edit is quite easy as you don’t have to understand it.

    1) In Genesis (good framework btw – I use it too), open the functions.php file using something like notepad (not Word though).

    2) Add the following code to the very bottom on its own line.

    add_filter('widget_text', 'do_shortcode');

    3) Save file and upload it to your Genesis theme folder.

    It is pretty quick.

I can do it for you if preferred but it is very simple.
