• Hello!

I’ve had my wordpress for a while and just recently I keep getting a “Error establishing a database connection” on and off. It will stay for around 5 minutes and start working all by itself. It’s happened at least 3 times just in the past 8 or so hours.

I’ve noticed it typically happens after I link to an article from it on facebook or shortly after I make a post.

I have hostgator hosting, and so far they’ve claimed it was an xmlrpc.php causing it and that they blocked the IP, then they had me update to the latest WP, but it’s still happening and they don’t seem to know the answer.

Is there anything you recommend I try, such as deleting or deactivating themes/plugins, or anything else?

    Thanks for your help.

Yeah, xmlrpc.php doesn’t prevent you from accessing the database.

Double check the connection details in wp-config.php. If they are correct, note the exact date/time of the next incident, and ask your hosting provider specifically why your database server keeps going offline.
