• I have selected Just Host as a web host. This may have been a mistake due to support issues. I have installed WP on that site and I am now ready to get started building the site, but I’m as lost as a goat in a snow storm. Whatever you read here, I am not stupid … in fact, I have have taught both an intro web design and an FrontPage course at our community college. But, in last three years a lot of stuff has changed.

My questions begin with how to proceed. I am skilled in FrontPage and would prefer to avoid as much learning curve as possible. I have already create my basic structure in FP. I have not yet published this work. This was more of a design exercise while learning more about WP. So, I am assuming WP will integrate with FP by allowing me to add a blog and a discussion forum. Finally regarding design structure, I wish to have a free area and a for profit subscription area. BTW, I am a subject matter expert in golf.

Your opinions and help about how to proceed are greatly appreciated … so, should I start in FP and add WP pages or stop, learn more about WP and do everything there.

  • You’re not going to be able to use FrontPage with WordPress. I’d strongly recommend that you stop and take some time out to learn about WordPress.

Thanks for that advice. I was concerned that would be the case. It’s a good thing I have some time to get this done. Can you suggest any learning resources that might be available on Amazon?

I believe there’s a WordPress For Dummies book but I’ve not seen it, so couldn’t say whether it’s any good.

Have you had a look at wordpress.tv? It’s a pretty comprehensive visual WP resource and includes a How-To section.
