I just set up a Google Adsense account yesterday and got approved for YouTube ads. I want to run ads in the sidebar of my blog but am having trouble setting it up. I’ve gotten to the stage where I created 2 ad units and copied the code into my blog. I’ve tried 2 techniques-just using a text widget and copying the code and using Easy Adsense. Google is giving me this message.

In order to complete your request to show ads on your own website, please implement your ad code on a live page on the domain that you gave in the upgrade request form. Your upgrade request can only be reviewed once your ad code has impressions on that domain

I can’t see anything different on my blog, I can see the widgets in the admin section and they look OK. How do I know if the “Impressions” are there so Google can see them?

How long has it been since you put it up? Because adBrite was just not showing any ads for about 24h, then they just popped up..

It’s been about 24 hours. I am not so much worried that the ads aren’t displaying yet, I am worried because I can’t tell if I did the widget correctly and Google’s people won’t be able to see the impressions they are talking about in the quoted text.

I guess I did it right, ads are appearing and I have already earned $0.08! Thanks for your help!
