• Okay, I am really, squeaky new to all of this, including blogging. I just installed WordPress and am now anxious to do some designing and admin work. I am a bit confused though. I am trying to go through the codex in introductions to getting started, but it talks about the WordPress Admin panels but the only thing I can get to is Dashboard. What I am reading is not what I am seeing. At first I thought that the Dashboard is the admin panel, but it doesn’t seem to be as I don’t have the same thing showing in admin as…well, you can see how confused I am. How do I find and Admin panel that says this:

    Across the top of the Admin screen is the main menu, which says:

    * Dashboard
    * Write
    * Manage
    * Links
    * Presentation
    * Plugins
    * Users
    * Options
    * Logout (name)

    Because the Dashboard ain’t sayin’ it. I feel like such a dunce!!!

    Well, fiddlesticks. This isn’t working. I have never used templates before and have no clue on what I am doing even after reading as much as I can. Sorry folks, I am having a hard time seeing any possibilities with this WordPress thing…..I just want to see how the CMS part works and am not really interested in the blogging part at this time. That part seems pretty straightforward. oh, well….

    Across the top of the Admin screen is the main menu, which says:

    This is for older versions of WP. These items are now in the left sidebar.

    Thanks, it helps to know I am not totally losing it. How do I find the other admin panels besides just the Dashboard. I can’t seem to find anything that is being discussed in the “instructions” pages. Nothing seems the same. I just downloaded WP and installed it today and already its outdated. I am reluctant to update because of the problems encountered installing it today. I would like to find some of the other admin panels but am at a loss.

    I can’t seem to find anything that is being discussed in the “instructions” pages.

    Start pressing buttons and arrows inside the Dashboard just to see what happens, and take things from there. (Most likely, you will not be able to blow up the world, or even set your home or office on fire, from the WP Dashboard.)

    Good luck!
