Getting started

Looks like we tried to go to Codex tools which is obviously premature. We have an existing html site with lots of pages, built about 7 years ago, and what we want to do is to migrate that site to wordpress. we don’t want to create a new site. Do we go to File Manager cpanel where our old site is or what ?
We have got wordpress only in our downloads in our computer. Can someone help?
