Email Subscriber plugin has been working fine for the past couple of months but tonight, when I checked our site. I noticed about 50 new “unconfirmed” subscribers and all of them were from “.ru” sites in Russia. The plugin is up to date and I know a few months ago the plugin had this same issue and you were able to fix the issue with a new update. Will you be coming out with a new update to fix this problem? Any way of blocking mail.ru and other .ru subscription request?

    Thank you

    Hi all,

In Email Subscribers Free we have taken care of the majority of security issues.
But still, there could be a few ways that surpass our security measures.
To combat that, you could try out Email Subscribers Premium which had the CAPTCHA feature.
    It helps achieve 100% security.
    Hope this helps you.

    Hi,

I’m also seeing this same issue on my site – it keeps filling up with fake subscribers. I have double opt-in enabled, but still when fake subscribers sign up, I get undelivered notifications (because the email addresses don’t exist) filling up my inbox.

Please consider allowing some sort of captcha as part of the free plugin – I love the plugin but it’s currently unusable with the amount of spam I get. My site costs around $50 a year to run, so I can’t afford to spend $130 dollars a year to upgrade to pro.

Thanks for all your work to build this plugin – it’s great, except for this issue!

    Hi
I’m also getting loads of .ru spam. Is there any fix in the pipeline for the free version. Like @oclambert, I’m spending about $50/year to keep my site working and don’t feel an extra $130 is worth it. Despite this I think it’s a great plugin and would like to continue using it but not if this isn’t fixed.

    Hi @kevinagar, @pamb083006 and @oclambert

I would like to update you that we have released Email Subscribers 4.0 which will enable you to block emails from a specific domain and so will help you filtering spam emails.

Please have a recheck after updating the plugin and let me know your views.

    Best,
    Aditya Shah

Thank you, having installed the update I’ve not had any spam emails. Two things I don’t like with the update.
    1. It defaulted to single opt-in even though I had it set to double opt-in
    2. It doesn’t show confirmed now
Other than that I still think it’s a great plugin

    Hi,

Thanks for the quick fix on this – I’ve upgraded and since then have not had any spam subscribers.

Thanks again for a great plugin!
