    Hi,
I’m using the Google Recaptcha integration (tried v3 and now using v2 invisible), have just added a honeypot also. But I keep getting spam messages.
I actually have a hidden field with a default value (superfluous but still there), and noticed the value is blank in the spam messages. So if it’s a bot it’s clearing that value. Just thought I’d mention it.
I’ve updated WP core and all plugins a couple of days ago and noticed an increase in spam since doing that.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi @calypso88

    I hope you’re well today!

Just to make sure: you can confirm for sure that these are spam submissions of Forminator form and not a spam coming through some other forms on site or directly to e-mail, right?

Assuming that reCaptcha is actually working (you can take a look into browser console to see if there are any errors and also check stats at reCaptcha console/dashboard at Gogole – where you’ve taken keys from) then it might be needed to add some additional precautions.

Unfortunately no solution is 100% “bulletproof” so in some cases honeypot alone does the job well (up to some point at least) and in some there’s always some amount of spam passing through. That mostly depends on the bots that are targeting the site.

That said, Forminator has also built-in integrations with

    – Akismet

If you are using the Akismet plugin on your site, you can enable this option, and select to either fail any submissions that Akismet detects as spam, or simply mark them as spam. Selecting the Fail Submissions option would display a customizable message to the user, and Mark as Spam would log them in your database but they would not appear in your Submissions list. You can enable this on “Behavior” settings page of the form.

    – CleanTalk AntiSpam plugin

You’ll find more information about it in this setup guide https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#cleantalk-anti-spam

    Kind regards,
    Adam

    Hi Adam,
    Thanks for your reply.
Yes it’s definitely coming through the forminator form as I can see them in the form submissions section.
I don’t get any recaptcha errors and I can see data in the recaptcha console, so seems to be active.
I just thought it was odd we had an influx of spam after I did updates.
Not overly concerned about getting the emails on our own site, but it can be annoying for our clients and recaptcha never seems to work very well.

    Hello @calypso88

Can you try to use the v3 reCaptcha, increase its threshold and check if make things any better?

We haven’t heard from you for several days now, so it looks like you don’t have more questions for us.

Feel free to re-open this ticket if needed.

    Kind regards
