    This plugins was working properly in my website. I rarely received 1 or 2 spam comments per week when this plugin is activated. I updated this plugin yesterday. Today, when I logged in the admin panel, I noticed there are 38 spam comments. May be something is wrong in the new version.

    Try to update Anti-spam plugin.
    And also you can try to use Anti-spam plugin with combination of some other spam-blocking plugin if you will have more spam in future.

    The same things happening with me. The old version stopped all spam. Since the 2.3 update, I’m getting a lot of spam coming through. Something in the update broke this plugin.

    You can revert back to version 2.2 temporarily.

    I will investigate this issue.

    Yep, same here. Ever since I updated I have been getting a bunch of spam. Previous version worked wonderfully and never got any spam through. Now it is like every 30 minutes! And the spam comments are very obvious ones. Please fix this! Something obviously got broken from the last version. ??

    Why is this issue marked as resolved? It hasn’t been resolved at all. Still going on. Just got 61 spam comments overnight. I haven’t had any spam comments for a couple of years since I first installed this plugin! This clearly has to do with the latest update. It seems like we will have to roll back to the earlier version. ??

    yes, the issue is not resolved yet. I am also still getting spam. If it continues I will revert to the version 2.2 tomorrow.

    Write me back if reverting to version 2.2 will help.

    If yes, then I will probably revert Anti-spam plugin to this version.

    Oh! I see what’s happening! The year box is now visible! What’s going on? How to fix this?

    @thebrickblogger: no it is not. I use this plugin on all my sites and input is hidden and spam is blocked.

    And visibility of the input for the user is not related to the blocking of spam.

    Clear the cache or update your CDN resources.

    Okay, that worked. I cleared the catche and now the date is no longer visible. At least that problem is solved. Now back to spam comments coming through. I deleted the ones I got overnight, and will continue monitoring the site to see what happens.

    Yep, spam still coming through. Just got another one. I will give this version of Anti-Spam a couple of more days then revert back to the earlier version, give it a week, and write a comparison update.

    @thebrickblogger: Please submit a feedback message.
    I would like to speak with you privately via mail about details of the spam messages you get.

    I just sent you a message. ??

    @webvitaly I think the point of failure (introduced in v2.3 to v2.5) is with the following line:

    if (is_singular() && comments_open() && get_option('thread_comments')) {

    Specifically this unnecessary part of the conditional check:

    && get_option('thread_comments')

    WordPress’ “Discussion Settings” has an option to enable or disable threaded (aka nested) comments. For anyone who has disabled this setting and opted for a flat comment display, the anti-spam.js script will not be enqueued. This can be confirmed by enabling/disabling that setting and you’ll see the anti-spam.js appear then disappear within the rendered HTML source. Also, when the script isn’t loaded, the hidden “year” box will show.

    Hope this helps. Anti-spam has been great for me and I’m still on v2.2. Had I upgraded to 2.3-2.5 it likely would have worked great as I have threaded comments enabled.
