Getting rid of ? mark after deleting images

  • im sorry if this was covered somewhere else- i did try to look.

    after deleting images from the media library first and then FTP (because the media library delete doesn’t really ‘delete’), I’m still getting image thumbnails in the media library with a ? mark.

    these are all unattached images, but if i click on the broken jpg icon/ ? mark theres another broken jpg icon and in the lower right it says “view attachment page” and also “delete permanently”. if i click on view attachment page, i get the page with yet another broken jpg marker. if i try to delete permanently, i get an “error in deleting” message.

    seems they are still attached somehow. what am i missing here to get rid of all of these broken thumbnails.

    thanks for the reply.

    its not something that shows on the website, but rather in the wordpress dashboard media library. i want to get rid ? marks of images i have deleted. this is link to a screenshot of the issue: https://skyedesignstudio.com/skyeweb/?attachment_id=1378

    however, when i do click on a ? mark image and then click on the “view attachment page”, this is the URL i get, if that helps:

    Your site console shows this error – “[cycle] terminating; zero elements found by selector” which means the cycle plugin initialization is executing before the images have loaded (before the load function has finished). Did you delete and upload the same image just to see if the problem solves?

    if i understand you correctly, you are asking me that if i upload the same exact image that i had deleted will the problem solve. i uploaded the image, and can see it in the library, however the original attachment page is still a ? mark.

    Nah, you understood it correctly. Do me a favor, Try changing your theme to any default WordPress theme like – Twenty Fifteen. And check if the image problem resolves or not, If the problem is still there, try disabling your plugins one by one and check again, Let me know ??

    sorry for my delay in responding to you. there was an issue with my service provider for several weeks so i was not able to do anything in wordpress admin until today.

    i did the following actions, all of which had no success:

    1. changed my theme to 2014
    2. disabled plugins one at a time
    3. disabled all plugins
    4. disabled all plugins and changed theme to 2014
