I am running a standalone installation WP 2.6.1 using a hosting service. It’s a simple blog, running a blog.txt theme. For some time, when I enter the site (even without being logged in), a message pops up asking if I want to allow a Flash from several sites (shefler.net and diwani.ca) – the search has yielded info that these are, in fact, viral.

Now, when I look at the source code on the main page of a blog, there is, indeed, a block of code embedded before !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC section. How can I remove it? It does not seem to be any of the templates in the theme editor.

    Thanks in advance

  • Look in the functions.php file.

I tried both functions.php in the wp-includes folder and one if the theme folder. The code seems to be clean there and no block I see in the main page source appears there.

Ok, you did help in a way – I started looking in the files after your suggestion and the code was embedded in the main index.php. Thanks.
