getting redirects from htaccess

    My 301 redirects are currently in my .htaccess file. When I look at my server, it looks like there are several .htaccess files (like htaccess_back, htaccess57291333 (a bunch of numbers . . . oddly, the one that matches my htaccess file that I edit via rankmath is the one with a bunch of number at the end.)

    How do I copy/paste the long list of 301’s into redirect? I don’t know anything about apache etc. I barely know how to find the server at my host.

    Only one of the files is being used and that is probably just the .htaccess file.

    You can import a .htaccess file into Redirection from the ‘import/export’ page.

    When I select the Add File button at the top, it opens folders on my hard drive, and that isn’t where the htaccess file is. If I put a csv file of my htaccess onto my hard drive, what does this mean, “and can be optionally followed with regex, http code (regex – 0 for no, 1 for yes)”. . . I have no idea what any of that is or if I should do a 3rd row with that, or put it at the end of the target field?

    You should probably speak to your hosting provider about where to find your htaccess file. It is not going to be on your hard drive.

    My apologies for not being more clear with the rest of my last reply (I know where the htaccess file is, but your Add File does not have the option to point at my host server…it only points to my hard drive).

    Here is the rest of that reply after the first sentence that you responded to.

    Sure, as an upload form that is all it can do. If you know where it is can’t you just download it and then upload it? It seems like a lot of work to convert it to CSV and then upload it.

    The third column is optional. If you don’t need it then you don’t need to put anything there.

    Ah. I didn’t see the file appended with .htaccess so I didn’t know if the file would upload properly or not (I’ve crashed my site before by trying to do something I wasn’t sure about). I downloaded the one that matched what I see as my most recent htaccess file and uploaded it. There were some odd redirects that I think redirect with a trailing slash, http to https etc. so I’m not sure if I need to delete those or not–they were not in my 301 redirects though.
