    I am getting a warning “

    my hosting provider suggested me to change the permission 0000 to 0644 in nav-manu.php whenever i see this problem but i’m getting this problem everyday when i change the permission my site goes live but the next day i get the same error again and again. i have two wordpress website and i’m seeing the same problem in both website.

    Hi Shub,

    Yes he did right it’s obviously a permission issue.
    I’m sure you tried but, sorry to ask:

    1) with a program like filezilla, did you change all folder and files after sitename.com as 644 (all but wp-config.php in root)
    2) did you try to make same thing with a more powerful program like WinSCP? (winscp is more powerful especially for read/write entries)
    3) did you check the read/write permission faq on www.remarpro.com, because a full 644 is not good either

    no i have not done any of them, and why do i need to change the file

    Ok,
    When you can’t open a file it means eithers file don’t exit OR you don’t have permission with the current Linux/Unix user.
    As you told me file exist, I think issue is about file permission.

    i have a hostgator hosting.
    and yes i do have access to the files through the file manager in my cpanel
    can you help he solving my issue? please help.

    You’re seeing permission issues with files. Take a look at Changing File Permissions ? WordPress Codex and set your file/folder permissions.

    Hostgator is a popular host, so ask them for help, too, if you set file permissions and they change themselves.
