Getting my site up before ditching my old one.

  • Hi. I just signed up for Word Press. My current host site is Microsoft Office Live which does not support Word Press. So I plan to switch the domain name to a host that will support it. The thing is, I would like to build my site in Word Press while keeping my Office site running, and then, when I am ready transfer the domain name and put up the word press site and ditch the old one. Is there a way to do this?

  • You could create the site on a local server using xampp or wampp etc then transfer the site to your new host when it’s ready or your new host probably provides you with an ip address you can connect to to develop on before you change the dns of the domain.

    Thank you. I will look into that.

    I am trying to do this also… I just posted about it, about previewing site via the IP address, but for some reason with wordpress it doesn’t work…

    Did you have any luck?
