Getting Help with WordPress

    Hi, I am new to WordPress. I chose WP because of the large community of people and the help forum(s), among other things. First of all, I am certainly very appreciative of any help that will come my way, and I DEFINITELY don’t want to sound pushy or ungrateful. This is strictly a time issue for me. I posted a topic called “Real estate website, custom fields, clean look, eCommerce” in the “Themes and Templates” part of the forum on this website. I got one reply the day of the post. On some other forums, when anyone replies to a post (including the person that posted the topic), the topic moves up to the front again. I have noticed that my topic is now many pages deep, with no resolution or other responses. And even though it has only been a few days, I am going to have so many questions, and need so much help, that I am afraid this amount of time delay between correspondence is not going to work for what I need to accomplish. I don’t know enough about WordPress to do this on my own. What is the best way, or place, etc. for me to get quick responses to problems/questions that I have with WordPress that I can’t seem to find the answers to on Google or by searching the WP forums, without actually having to hire someone to do this for me? Is it ok to cross-post the same topic in different forum areas if my issue is not resolved? The “Forum Welcome” page says that is NOT ok, but I’m just double-checking. Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks ??

  • Don’t cross post. Break your questions down into one clear question/request at a time. Read the docs for your theme and plugins.

    Realize that we are all vounteers here. If you can’t do the work yourself, consider looking for a reputable person to fix it correctly on jobs.wordpress.net or freelancing sites such as Elance. (It’s not a good idea to respond to unsolicited emails from forum users offering to work for you.)

    Thank you, this is very helpful. I will break my complicated first post into specific, short topics. Tackle one thing at the time. I know that everyone here are volunteers, and that’s why I appreciate the help so much. I imagine once I get started with my template installation, my learning curve will be much better; I just need to get started. And thanks for the links. I am really looking forward to learning WordPress, and wish I wasn’t in such a hurry for my first project!! I hope that you have a great day, and thanks for the help ??
