Thanks for your question, and for posting the complete source text of your shortcode.

The shortcode parameter to change the link target is mla_target. Try changing your shortcode to:

    [mla_gallery post_mime_type=application/pdf post_parent=all size=icon link=file mla_target="_blank" mla_caption="{+title+}"]

I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have any problems or further questions regarding the above suggestion. Thanks for your interest in the plugin.

Copied exactly, still opening in the same window. The syntax is correct. Is there a setting I am missing?

Thanks for trying the suggested fix and for your update. I want to make sure I understand the behavior you are seeing. Does the PDF content replace the post/page with the [mla_gallery] output, or does it open in a new tab within the same browser window?

The HTML < a > target Attribute will open a “new window or tab” when _blank is used. I do not know of any way to force a completely new window to open up in all browsers.

Yes. It replaces the page. I am tasked to open a completely different tab next to the existing mia gallery page.

Thanks for confirming my understanding of your situation.

I entered the shortcode I gave you in my first post on a WordPress page. I have just tested the page with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Safari. All of these browsers open the PDF document in a new tab or (for Safari) a new window. None of them replace the current window with the document.

Can you post a link to a post/page on your site that is showing the problem? Thanks for your help and your patience.
