There is an error listed in the above:

This means that something is broken on the authentication front. Rather, there is something in your account that is blocking Photonic from accessing the content. You can log into Instagram and navigate to Settings → Apps and Websites → Active, and see if “Photonic WordPress Plugin” is listed there. If so, click on the button that says “View and Edit”. It should tell you when the app was added (should be less than 60 days), and under the section for “INFO YOU’RE SHARING WITH THIS APP”, you should see the following:

1. Access your profile information
2. User media – make sure that this is selected.

If both of the above are present, then you might have to contact Instagram support – this goes beyond my control.

If the response from FB/IG is inadequate, it might make sense to use a different plugin

Since quite a few people have reported this to me, I have created a separate report for Meta, asking them to check if something changed in my application configuration.

In the meanwhile, I strongly encourage people reporting this to verify if the permissions on your Instagram account are allowing the access to Photonic. You can do so using the following steps (reproduced for everyone’s benefit):

So are you going to contact Instagram to get changes and fix the bug? It’s obviously not one person it’s many like me that suddenly got this error. I suspected this from the start but you wouldn’t believe meta might change their API slightly effecting programs/plugins like photonic.

I have already written above that I have logged a bug report with Meta. You must understand by now that I am extremely prompt with support queries.

Meta has not changed their API. Something is broken with the authentication of my application (not the Photonic WordPress plugin, but the Photonic application registered with Meta, which makes the calls to Meta from WordPress) – that is why I made you go through the debug steps and give me the logs.

Sorry lots in this case so apologies if I missed something. Hopefully Instagram will cooperate(Meta) and tell you what’s changed so the code to authenticate works again. And yes you’ve been very attentive. We all appreciate your maintaining this plugin.

You don’t need to keep asking for a status repeatedly. I will provide one when there is progress. Meta employees don’t work during weekends, so there won’t be any activity on those days anyway.

An update: I have had quite a few exchanges with someone on Meta regarding my ticket. So far we haven’t gotten anywhere. I have provided them every piece of detail that I could have (sample code, what works, what fails, tokens etc.), but the needle hasn’t moved much. I will keep you posted.
