Please provide an example of a shortcode that is failing. Also, confirm that you are able to see things when you are using the gallery wizard to create the gallery.

Also, please set the Loading Mode to JavaScript from Photonic → Settings → Generic Options → Advanced → Loading mode.

When I try adding a new post with instagram gallery, on the page that I would select a photo gives me this error:
No data returned. Error code 403

Here is an example of my shortcode:

    <!– wp:photonic/gallery {“shortcode”:”{\u0022type\u0022:\u0022instagram\u0022,\u0022media_id\u0022:\u002217877688169741208\u0022}”} /–>

Nothing has changed on my website at all. I am certain this worked fine 2 days ago and made sure to do authorization again just in case that might be the issue.

An error code of 403 means that you are trying to access something that you have no access to, i.e. your authentication is broken.

Nothing has changed in the Photonic code either, which would generally point to a server level change, or a new plugin at your end that is blocking the request.

Sorry, I stand corrected (or rather, there is an addition to what I said). According to Instagram’s documentation, one of the descriptions for error code 403 says:

Rate limit exceeded: You are hitting rate limits on the node that you are attempting to fetch. Please wait and try again later.

So, it is also likely that you are being hit by too many page loads. Note that the other two descriptions of 403 indicate authentication issues, as I outlined previously.

I have not hit rate limits I assure you. My website is not that popular. I get fewer than 100 hits a day. I will try to reauthorize once more. But last night it would not fix the error.

If the authentication process succeeds and you still face issues, this is indicative of a different plugin interfering, or a change in your server’s configuration (initiated by your hosting provider).

There was no change in my server. I run it from a cloud and control all of it. I suppose I could go through the entire restore process after rebuilding the server instance but that would take a long time.

And what about other plugins/your theme?

    Thread Starter photolarry

    (@photolarry)

I have used the same theme for over a year. It does get updated occasionally. It is called Neve.

    And plugins?

    (@photolarry)

I switched to 2022 theme that comes with wordpress and still get error. So it could be server level error not wordpress. I am unsure.

I have not added or changed the plugins I use. This is not the issue. It must have something to do with Instagram. Because my Flickr galleries work.

I am certain this is something instagram specific. I do not think rebuilding my server would fix the issue.
