After the recent update I am getting “critical error message” whenever I try to reply and post a comment, although after refreshing I find the comment published. Please look into the matter and correct it soon.

I am sorry, but I can not reproduce this problem. It works on all my websites and my test environment as well. Can you please check if there is an PHP error message recorded in your webserver log file?

What PHP version do you use? Your webserver should be at least PHP 7.4 – if you are still using PHP 5.6, this may be a problem. Also keep in mind, that even PHP 7.4 is near its end of life and should be updated soon as well:

If in doubt please ask your webhoster about this.

Just to be sure I even tested it with PHP 5.6 – eventhough WordPress itself complains about the outdated PHP version and many other plugins don’t work any longer then there is no problem with “Comment Reply Email Notification”.

Please try to uninstall the plugin and install it again. The existing comment subscriptions will not be removed.

Sorry for the confusion – I finally found the issue and will provide an update soon.

    Version 1.22.0 should fix this.
