    In the codex it says:

    “Restrict Comments to Registered Users
If you allow only registered users to comment, you can restrict comments to only registered users.

Go to the Settings > General panel
Under Membership:, select Users must be registered and logged in to comment.”

I’m trying to do that but when I look at Settings > General > Membership, my only option is a checkbox “Anyone can register” which I have checked.

How can I get the option to only allow registered users to comment?

Settings > Discussion > Users must be registered and logged in to comment

You also getting hit with major comment spam?

Even my Akismet is not picking it up – really irritating!

So i temporarily enabled that option until the spammers leave off, then i’ll disable it again.

Yes major comment spam. I just enabled Akismet and we’ll see how that goes.

Thanks for the suggestion to look in Settings > Discussion. Now I’ve just unchecked “Users must be registered and logged in to comment ” as well.
