Getting an HTTP404 error when going to wp-admin page

  • Hello everyone,

    I am really struggling and would appreciate any advice you can give me. I have a number of wordpress sites. My two main sites when I try to go to the wp-admin to sign in all I get is a web page cannot be found HTTP 404 error. I have cleared my cookies and browser caching. I have tried moving the plugins and re uploading the wp-login.php file but still no joy. One of my other wordpress sites works fine so it should not be browser related. Any ideas please.

  • ok so now I am confused a bit.

    I just took a look at the source for https://www.musclebuildinglive.com and it is shooting all sorts of spam links.

    Something really screwy here.

    Who is your host?

    What other stuff do you have on this server?

    I see what you mean looking at the source. My host is hostgator. Take a look at https://www.sixpackquest.net

    They have it also.

    Is that site also on HostGator?

    Are you guys using similar plugins or themes? What, if any, are the commonalities?

    It is and the sites are using the same plugins and themes

    I’d like to identify what is causing the spam links. This looks like an exploit that needs to be identified.

    I am having a similar issue and am desperate to get it sorted, I have been spending all afternoon trying to – when trying to access my admin login page, I get the ‘Error establishing a database connection’ error but I can see fine the homepage of my blog – https://www.blog.lalydesign.co.uk.

    All the other links appear to be broken. When I try to click on anything, I would get a 404 page with a message like this – The requested URL /2011/01/havana-club-presents-wall-project-rich-mix/ was not found on this server.

    Have you guys any idea why this is happening?
