• Hello,

I’ve seen forum posts where links within posts get a 404, but I’m experiencing a weird problem with my blog.

It started out with checking the Archive feature on my sidebar. Out of curiosity, I clicked on a previous month and the result was a 404 page.

Then, today, I published a photo. When I clicked on “View Page” within the editor, I was taken to a 404 page.

I’ve since tried looking at the single-page versions of my posts and it seems none of them go anywhere, and yet they exist on the main page of my blog.

I’ve disabled all plug-ins, as a precaution, with no luck. I’ve got permalinks set to “pretty”. Anyone have any suggestions?

    My blog: imagitude.com

    Thanks.

  • Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting via Settings -> Permalinks. If this works, then check with your hosts that mod_rewrite is running on your server.

A-ha. It does work. Out of curiosity, what is mod-rewrite (just so I understand what I’m talking about)?

    M

It’s an add-on module for Apache web servers that provides rewrite functionality. When you turn default (ugly) permalinks into custom (pretty) permalinks, you are rewriting them.

Thanks, esmi – I will look into this.
