Hi, on all of my pages for this site and another site I have setup with the Cleantalk plugin I get this error in the browser console.
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 () /wp-content/plugins/cleantalk-spam-protect/lib/Cleantalk/ApbctWP/Ajax.php

The plugin still appears to be working though so I’m not sure if it is affecting something, but would like to fix this error.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello,

Please check that nothing is blocking this file. Also, you can disable “Use AJAX for JavaScript check” and set “Set cookies” to On here:

WordPress Dashboard -> Settings -> Antispam by Cleantalk -> Advanced settings

    Did it help?

Hi, thanks for your quick response. I am not too sure about how to check if something is blocking that file, unless it is something to do with my hosting provider.
I disabled the ‘Use AJAX for JavaScript check’ and the error has now gone. However not sure if this will cause an issue as in the notes about this option it says to have this option turned on to avoid issues with caching plugins. Now my website doesn’t technically have a caching plugin, however the hosting provider has caching included at the server level. Will this lower the effectiveness of the antiSpam protection on the forms or cause issues elsewhere?

It shouldn’t affect Anti-Spam protection, but please monitor the situation for a while.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this thread as “resolved”.
If you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

I experienced the same error on Cloudways hosting when Bot Protection (uses MalCare) is turned on.

    Hello, @thewebtailors.

Do you still have that issue?

    Thanks for checking.

I do, even though I was able to “resolve” it by turning off Bot Protection (https://www.cloudways.com/blog/announcing-bot-protection/, Cloudways started to automatically add Bot Protection to new WordPress websites hosted with them).
I am not aware of a feature to exempt an URL from the Bot Protection.

Also, to avoid a 403 error on the /wp-content/plugins/cleantalk-spam-protect/lib/Cleantalk/ApbctWP/Ajax.php file, in Cloudways I had to allow direct PHP files access (https://support.cloudways.com/en/articles/5127209-restrict-direct-access-to-wordpress-php-files).

Thank you for your detailed feedback, @thewebtailors.

I saved it for future topic about the Cloudways Hosting.
