I am trying to create a local development environment and I can’t for the life of me get this to work. I have read and tried countless tutorials, painstakingly going through each example, line by line.

    I do have mod_rewrite running.
    I have set AllowOverride All.
I have setup my username.conf file according to every tutorial.. you get the picture.
I have edited the httpd.conf ..same
I have edited the apache2.conf file ..same
I removed my .httaccess file and saved my permalinks settings.

I can get it to work with the default permalinks, just nothing else.

I have tired for literally days to get this working, and I am out of ideas. Anyone have a suggestion. Thanks in advance.

I am using xmapp and wp is just running great in default configuration. I think you messed somewhere right in front of your nose. To be sure, in dashboard>settings>general, what you are seeing in WordPress Address (URL), and Site Address (URL)? are those https://localhost/wpfolder or different?
*wpfolder is the folder you’ve installed WP.

Yeah, checked that as well and they are both setup correctly. Thinking about flattening my OS (Mac Yosemite by the way) and starting over.

I am thinking that mod_rewrite is working properly. Can I re-install apache?
