    OK, it’s confirmed now. The problem was indeed due to the anti-hotlinking in my htacess.

    I removed it, and now these 404s have stopped appearing.

    I’d request the moderator to kindly remove the links which I provided in the above comment.

    I truly appreciate this plugin, because these 404 were caught only by this plugin, and I could not see them anywhere in my search console crawl error report. However, the image indexing in the sitemap section was gradually declining.

    I think I have the same issue but no idea how to resolve.

    @swagatam1975 what did you do to work around this?

    I have the same issue where images don’t redirect but I don’t think I was ever using any anti-hotlinking.

    Okay I got this resolved.

    Since the site is with WPEngine I spoke with them and they added a change to add a prox_pass to skip that part of the Nginx configuration.

    This now allows file extensions like png and jpg to work with the redirection plugin again.

    If you are with WPEngine and have the same issue request they make the above change and it should fix the issue.
