    Hi all,
    I installed Wordfence on the WordPress sites we host, but now another client is getting a 403 error trying to put a folder in their media area. It’s a Wordfence message and says:

    “403 Forbidden

    A potentially unsafe operation has been detected in your request to this site.

    Generated by Wordfence at Mon, 24 Jul 2017 21:40:34 GMT.
    Your computer’s time: Mon, 24 Jul 2017 21:40:46 GMT.”

    I want this client to be able to add folders to their media area. What do I do to fix this?

    Thanks

    I’ve whitelisted the IP of the person editing the site for now but would like to figure out in general how to get around these false alarms for our non-Wordpress sites that are impacted by the Wordfence plugin.

    Hi @fraugefahr,

    Does the issue persist if you switch the Wordfence firewall back to Learning Mode?

    I tested it, and no it doesn’t happen in learning mode. I think Wordfence has already spent a week in Learning Mode. Should I put it back in Learning Mode for a few more days and go to these sites and do the things that were causing issues before?

    Before reverting to Learning Mode I put an .htaccess file in the folders where these sites were that had this in it:

    # Don’t Monitor with Wordfence
    <IfModule mod_php5.c>
    php_value auto_prepend_file none
    </IfModule>

    I don’t know all the ips of that admins that run these sites and they don’t all have static ip’s, so that was my workaround.

    Thanks,
    Kristen

    Hi Kristen (@fraugefahr),

    Indeed, I suggest you switch the firewall back to Learning Mode and perform all the actions that were previously causing issues.

    Once you’re confident all features have been tested, you can put it into “Enabled and Protecting” mode.
