get_day_link and future posts

Does anyone know of a simple way to get WP to display future-dated posts on a given future date? If you call the get_day_link function for a future date, a 404 error is returned, keeping me from using template functions to manually grab post_status=’future’ posts. Any ideas as to how I might be able to do this with as little core-code modification as possible?

I know I could change the posting function to create future posts as “publish” rather than “future”, but I’d rather not, for other reasons. Any ideas?
