Get user's previous level

Is there a way s2member can recall a demoted user’s previous level? We have users at different levels for different annual fees, and while they should know what kind of member they are, it would be more efficient to detect their previous level and send them to the correct renewal page automatically. This client does not want automatic renewals for a couple of reasons.
