Get successful send message but never receive email

Contact Form 7 version 4.5
After I fill out the form on my website I get the message “Your message was sent successfully”, so I know the Form tab panel is setup properly. But I never receive any email (gmail). I have verified from the WP-Admin login page that the “Lost your password?” works and I get an email to reset, so that part is covered. I have verified that the entries in the fields in the Mail tab panel are correct because the Configuration Validator does not show any errors. I have checked my gmail spam and junk folders and nothing is there. I don’t know what else to do. Does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions? I need to get this working for my customer ASAP. I thought this would be an easy contact form plugin to use but it’s not being cooperative. Many thanks in advance for your thoughts. ~Dave
