Get Shortlink button not on Edit Page after 4.0 Upgrade

    The “Get Shortlink” button no longer appears on the Edit Page window when I try to create a NEW page. Also, I am able to Publish new pages, although drafts can be saved. Pages created prior to the upgrade can be edited and the “Get Shortlink” button appears. Is this a .htaccess problem, as a result of the upgrade to 4.0?

    As suggested in basic instructions for this forum, I started deactivating my plugins, one by one and checking for problem resolvement each time. When I deactivated the plugin “After the Deadline”, version 0.49008, my problems went away. The “Get Shortlink” button now appears on all new webpages and all edited new and old pages can be successfully published.
