Im sorry. I have failed. I cannot find where to get rid of the “read more” that shows up in blog posts. I have been reading and researching everywhere. So, Now Im just going to byte the bullet and ask.

I have a “read more” showing up and I would like to get rid of it and just go right to comments. Basically, Get rid of the “readmore” and under the blog post start the comments.

Right now you have to hit the readmore and then it shows the page I want.

Iam not fully comfortable with php so its been a handycap for me. But if someone can help out I appreciate it.

  • Hi RC,

You have probably already checked this but have you selected the ‘more’ option in the editor by any chance? I notice there’s quite a few line breaks below the post content. Is the ‘more’ option at the very bottom of the post?

It might seem simple but I’ve had friends ask me this before and there’s been a ‘more’ insert and the very bottom of the post they had missed when it was published.

There’s other options you can do with the_content(); code to strip out the ‘read more’ option but it’s good to get the basics out of the way first. Maybe add a couple more posts of mixed content to see what happens.

    Cheers

Don’t forget, the ‘read more’ option only shows up on the main blog index page:

Not on the actual post page:

Ok, I understand it now. Actually a lack of understanding on my part about the structure or layout of wordpress blogs. I dont understand why I didnt notice this before but at the top menu when you click on ‘blogs’ its taking you to an index of available blog articles. Therefore, The readmore is most definately needed to shorten the article and if you wish to read more you click the readmore and it brings you to the actual article (or blog) page. So, Everything is working as it should. I was just under the stupid assumtion that clicking on the blog in the top menu would take me to the article. Although it could be setup that way I suppose, However I much prefer it the way it is.

Thank you for your quick replies. I really appreciate it!

It wasnt so much of a ‘software/code’ error as a ‘Understanding’ error. ??

No problem. I have a lot of understanding errors myself ??
