    Hello,

I was wondering if it’s possible to get ad groups by name and not ID? I’ve been using echo get_ad_group( $banner_ad_group ); in my theme which has been working fine. However, it would be nice to not have to hard code the ad group ID. TIA!

    Hi 42three,

    Thanks for reaching out.

If getting ad groups by name means seeing the group’s name in addition to the ID in the backend, please, follow these instructions if you use shortcodes: https://wpadvancedads.com/productivity-tips/#Use_notes_in_shortcodes.

If you want to call these ads using PHP, I am sorry that I cannot help you with any workaround.

    Best regards,
    Joachim

Yes I’m wanting to call the ads in the specified group by group name rather than ID. Do I have to email you guys to get support then? Or is this kind of support not included in the all access plan?

    Hi @42three,

Sorry for letting you wait so long with an answer.

I’m afraid this won’t work for technical reasons because Advanced Ads uses fixed IDs for each ad unit and ad group but allows users to change these names afterward. It’s the other way around with Placements. Changing their titles afterward is currently not possible for the same reason.

If you have an active All-Access license, you will receive immediate support via our dedicated support page. In contrast to this forum, we can also help you with questions about the paid add-ons.

But unfortunately, there will also be no quick solution for your name/ID problem. Can you please describe the reasons or the setup why you depend on calling groups by their names?

    Best regards,
    Joachim
