get 404 error for post/pages anfd can't acess wp-admin

  • Hi All,

    I found out earlier today that my blog – https://www.blog.lalydesign.co.uk was down. I looked up the files on the server and noticed that loads of copies of the htaccess files had been copied and scattered in various folders and subfolders.

    I deleted them all and might have also deleted the one I shouldn’t have… Although I can see the homepage now, if I try to click on any links (post or pages), I get the 404 error. I cannot access either the admin console (https://www.blog.lalydesign.co.uk/wp-admin/), I get the ‘Error establishing a database connection’ error.

    I then looked up the wp-config.php file and all the details seems correct. However, I also noticed that line in the file define(‘WP_CACHE’, true); //Added by WP-Cache Manager
    I recently started to use the plugin ‘sp-super-cache’ so I am not surprised to find such code there but am wandering whether this may be causing the issue?

    I have not changed anything and now I cannot even see the homepage!

    I believe the ‘wp-super-cache’ is causing the issue as when I comment out the following line – define(‘WP_CACHE’, true); //Added by WP-Cache Manager
    , I cannot see the homepage and I get the ‘internal server error’ or the ‘cannot connect to the database’ error but I still cannot access the admin console!
