• Since the latest updates, W3 Total Cache got translated to German in an inconsistent way that gives me, as a native German speaker, a headache to figure out the meaning of some options that used to be perfectly clear in English.

Switching WP-Admin to English is, unfortunately not an option, as my customers need everything else in German.

The plugin’s title is now displayed as “W3 Gesamtcache” while the main menu entry is labelled “Leistung”.

    Please roll back this Verschlimmbesserung!

    Hello @openmindculture

I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing with the translations and I am happy to assist you with this.
I was not able to replicate the problem switching the WP language to German. W3TC is using WP translations, so can you please check if you have:
    w3-total-cache-de_DE.po
    w3-total-cache-de_DE.mo
in /wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/languages/ folder (make a backup and delete those files)
an also in /wp-content/languages/plugins (make a backup and delete the same files mentioned above).

Let me know if this helps until the next fix.

    Thanks!

I can confirm that deleting the translation files brings back the English text, which is a good workaround so far.

I noticed some failed translations, even funny somehow, where it simply makes no sense: “Reverse-Proxy-Caching über Lack aktivieren” translates “varnish” literally to “Lack” while this is a trademark / product name (“Varnish cache”) that should not be translated, at least in my opinion.

Does it help if I add some more specific examples and suggested translations? You could also add me as a German translator to W3C project if you like. I am glad if I can help!
