Geotagged Images loosing info on upload

  • Hello,
    I have researched and read all the things on here about geotagging but don’t understand the answers (i am not particularly technical.
    I recently started geotagging photos using geoimgr.com. I would then upload them to my website. I thought I was doing great. However, I decided to save a photo and check the geotag (lat and Longitude info attached to the image). When I did this the geo info was not there.

    Somewhere between uploading it from my computer to WordPress then publishing it the geotag has been removed.

    I have searched online and in lots of places for a good (simple) answer. Please please help me and thanks.

  • Do you have any image optimization plugins activated? They may be stripping the GPS data. I also recommend checking out the Media Library Assistant plugin. The developer really understands issues to related issues related to image metadata such as GPS.

    I use wp rocket – but I tested it by disabling it. Next I uploaded a tagged photo then put it online.

    After doing this i went to my site and downloaded the image and again the tags, on inspection of properties were still gone.
