Geo Targetting Not Working

    Hi I’ve been using the plugin successfully since 2019. However, at some point in the past several months it stopped working. I’ve now had a chance to trouble shoot and can report that no matter what I try it does not seem to work. If you are traffic from Europe you should be seeing our European home page (but it is not). Same goes with the UK. Bizzarely, if I screen for U.S. traffic the site does deliver the U.S. home page. Even for traffic coming from Canada or the UK. Basically things are broken. No changes have been made on my end. The one thing is that I see there is a “FIX” plugin that is installed now on the site. Must have been auto loaded. I wish I could provide better idea of what is going wrong. Is there anything I can do to help trouble shoot this?

    Are you using any sort of page cache. This plugin is not compatible with cache.

    Hi Damian, I don’t think so. However, I did signup for the Go Daddy firewall premium package. It may have some page chaching built in??? Could this be the reason why?

    Yes it could be that, or that your IP is not the real user IP anymore and instead is the one from the firewall.

    What do you get in the settings page debug section

    Hi Damian, I’m not sure if the Debug data is capturing everything. I can’t seem to find dates. Below is a copy paste of the debug data. I just checked with the backend on GoDaddy and you may be right about the IP address. I’m not entirely savvy on this. But I do believe there is some form of IP change following the implementation of the firewall. I can look to find that. Also, the back end of the firewall does allow me to exclude certain page URL’s from the cache. Images and such on those pages would still be cached but the URL specifically would not. All I am using the plug in for is to feed a specific Home page to the user. If you are traffic coming from the U.S. when you hit the home page you would be served the home page for U.S. If you are Europe then Europe. Etc.. Would I have to exclude the URL that is listed as the “Front Page” in WordPress AND each URL for the region specific home pages? Would that allow your plugin to work? BTW I’ve been the plugin since 2019 and it’s worked like a dream! Let me know.

    In the settings on your website in my account the URL above is set as the “Allowed Domain.” Should I add one of the IP addresses above to that field??

    I don’t know what account you may have or with who but that’s not a conversation for these forums.

    Also? If that’s for an API access (many APIs are that way with authentication) then if they need that info from you may want to contact them on their site instead.
