Generating thumbnails in modal view of media item

    When generating a thumbnail in the modal window that pops up when clicking an mp4 file, the generation of thumbnails just comes up with “saving” and never goes away. The thumbnail is generated however.

    If you click “edit more details” to load the media post and generate from there, it reload the page once done.

    Is this a bug?

    Sorry I missed this before. I think I see what the problem is and I’ll try to get a fix out soon.

    Reloading the page in the old, non-popup version of the Media Library is intentional. It ensures that the attachment info is updated. All other Media Library views save automatically.

    There’s a fix on GitHub but I’m not done testing it yet and I found another problem I need to fix too. Thanks to the Writers Guild strike I’ll have a lot more time to work on it in a few days.

    Sorry, the link to the master GitHub branch I posted yesterday is wrong. The 4.8 branch has my work on the next release.

    Are you seeing this problem when you select a thumbnail from the video and click the “Use this frame” button? There are so many different methods for making thumbnails that I keep discovering more problems. By the way, all of this was caused by a change in WordPress 6.2 that I didn’t realize they had implemented.

    I just released version 4.8.10, which I hope fixes the problem.
