generating postings for specific category

I’m a newbie to WordPress. I’m very close to getting my site done, but I’m having a problem with categories.

I’ve created category-#.php files and for each category file, I want to be able to generate a list of all the posts that I’ve created for that specific category. So that someone can look at the column on the right side of the page, see only articles/postings for that category and click on one of them to load the actual article/posting.

Does anyone know of any code out there that will do this? I’ve looked through the WordPress/codex info online and I can’t find an example that I can just copy-and-paste in there.
