We did send a request to our Smush team and I see the same is tasked up for further checks. If the same is approved by the team and the management, it would be added to the list of tasks and then come to the development phase.

I am afraid I would not be able to promise you an ETA on it as the process has to get through a lot of scoping and test process. You can always keep an eye on the plugin updates to know if the update for the same is released in the future.
