• Hi all,

i have multiple questions, first off i am hosting my webserver at home on a very low budget so im doing everything myself hopefully some one else is as well and my first question is how would i view a post from within my network? Second question is regarding multiple sites with wordpress i am not using virtual hosting i have my server setup as follows

    ip address – one site
    ipaddress/folder – one site
    ipaddress/folder/folder – one site
    etc etc

what is the root for the first wordpress site so i know what im working with?

third question, word press requires FTP to upload special plugins and i am using vsftp however there is no config option to put in the vsftp.conf file for both username and password

    please advise thank you

Using a web browser in the same way you would view it from outside of the network.

    2. You can’t place a second WP install inside the first one. Perhaps you need to look at Create_A_Network?

    3. Not necessarily. They can often be uploaded via the Admin->Plugins sub-menu. All I can suggest is that you try this first as it does vary from server to server.

ok thats logical but what would the address look like, heck i dont even know where the blog posts are being saved how and where just like when i put in
ipaddress/folder/ i would get one of my websites
what would be the directories for my wordpress blogs?

Your WP content is stored in your database – not within folders. The url to your WP site presumably would be ipaddress/wp-folder where wp-folder is the name of folder in which you installed WordPress.

so if i were to make multiple wordpress sites can i have it setup as:

    ipaddress/wp-folder/folder1
    ipaddress/wp-folder/folder2
    ipaddress/wp-folder/folder3

    is that possible?

    Yes.

so would i need multiple instances of wordpress installed?

Yes – unless you were creating a network.

ok, thinking outloud i think its best for me to have a main page and have links off that main page for other subjects

just like my main html page has links off of it
