Gemer theme frontpage thumbnails

This may be a particular thing for this theme:
I installed the theme but it is showing blank thumbnails…. see below for screen shot.
I can’t see where the theme gets the thumbnails or how to fix them. I gather it automatically generates them from pictures in the posts.https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v521/SirZephyr/themeproblem.jpg
