In the light of new GDPR, an Unsubscribe button/url could be usefull, if not mandatory. We should not sent our subscribers to an old newsletter in their email account to unsubscribe.

After all, they are subscribing on the website so the website should offer unsubscribe option as well.

  • Hello Solarian, we’re not sure what you are trying to say ??

Are you suggesting that we should add an unsubscribe page on our website?

Hey, thank you for your reply.
    Let me try to clarify.

So, mailpoet provides an Subscribe button – the simplest subscribe proces: insert your email address and hit Subscribe button. That’s cool!

But, how about a reverse process, an Unsubscribe button? Insert your email address and hit the Unsubscribe button in order to leave any choosen email list you previous subscribe?

This way, we will be able to provide in, let’s say, Terms of use pages, a simple unsubscribe process description. Instead, now we send our users to their email accounts, to fint one of our newsletters and there to locate the unsubscribe link and then follow the steps. But what if they deleted all my newsletters form their email account?

    Thanks for explaining again.

We don’t have a landing page for someone to unsubscribe himself because it would be a security issue.

First, anyone could unsubscribe any email address on such a page. Second, if this happens, a bot could detect if the address is in the list by looking for a confirmation message “This email has been removed”.

The only way to unsubscribe is to click on the link in the email itself.
