    Hi,

Don’t know if this is the place to ask but is Wordfence going to be GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) or Privacy Shield compliant for May 2018 since it tracks personal information of peoples IP addresses??

    Thanks
    John

    Hi John (@pembertronics),

Wordfence is aware of the new EU General Data Protection Regulations coming into effect in May 2018.
We don’t have any updates on any potential changes in our processes yet but we’re working with our legal team to ensure compliance by that date.

    Hi Wfyann,

Thanks for that, I am currently auditing my sites and checking 3rd party conformation to the GDPR, so this is good to know.

    Many thanks
    John

@pembertronics have you discovered any popular plugin which will not be okey in May?

    Thanks for helping!

Any news on when we can expect the plugin to be compliant please?
    Many thanks.

I suppose every organization needs to find its own approach to compliance. I would not expect that each plugin have its own compliance features. Rather, I would expect a single plugin to gather together in one place all the features that might be needed for compliance. That being said, I can only think of one aspect of Wordfence that might be relevant to GDPR, namely, the right to be forgotten. That being said, the vast amount of data collected by Wordfence is completely anonymous.

So, what sort of functionality are people thinking about when they ask about GDPR compliance?

Well, I guess Wordfence collects / processes IPs. Those are considered private data by EU. By using WF, you are sending IPs of your visitors to WF, probably over the EU border (also a fact that has consequences). I am not an expert but according to what I know so far, that is quite a deal in the GDPR word.

I don’t believe one plugin will solve the GDPR compliance of other plugins. I think each of them will have to comply.

    Hi wfyann,

Do you have any updates about the GDPR compliance of Wordfence?

    Thank you so much!

    Hello Wordfence,

why is this resolved? I can’t see any Information regarding GDPR compliance? How does wordfence meet the requirements?

Means all european clients have to switch it off?

    Greetings
    Martin
