It’s a simple mechanism using JavaScript to add a hidden field to the form. If this field isn’t included in the submission, it’s flagged as spam. It’s based on the technique outlined by David Walsh. It should have no impact on GDPR.

It is a type of honeypot but using a different mechanism than the included honeypot, which is simply hidden via CSS rather than being dependent on JS.
