GDPR: Be able to link to the privacy policy page

    Hello Marcel,
    I have the same question as @ellyimbaa on this topic, but I could not continue on the same topic. My post has been deleted.

    So, to comply with the GDPR since May 2018, you have provided a checkbox about the privacy policy. It is even possible to make it mandatory. But it does not make sense to ask the user to accept this policy if he can not consult it.

    I think you will need to add the ability to place HTML in the text field for “Accept Privacy Policy“. Thus, we can add a link to the corresponding page on our site.

    I did see it come by.
    I understand your question. I am waiting for WordPress Core to provide infrastructure for this. I think they are planning things for this. I would prefer this over doing things myself.

    I am just not sure if that link should be added to the notice text or to the checkbox text. I would think the latter option. It would then be provided as a link around the label text. If there is a privacy policy, it becomes a link. If there is no privacy policy, it just becomest plain text.

    Yes, it would be nice to put a link on the text of the checkbox, probably on the label text.
    So I’m waiting for news about this, when the WordPress Core will allow it.

    In the meantime, I will put a link to my Privacy Policy page just before the form. Otherwise, it’s strange to ask the user to check the box if he does not have access to the content of the Privacy Policy.

    Hi, this is now part of the current development version. You do need to use WordPress 4.9.6, which is currently in beta. You also need to set up a privacy policy page under Tools > Privacy.
    I am waiting with the release untill WP 4.9.6 is released.

    I will wait for WP 4.9.6 stable, this new version will be available very soon.
